CASEs’ ProjectsTransboundary migration and the Receiving Society in Modern Russia: Mutual Adaptation Practices The project goal is to study the daily use of migration in building livelihood strategies and practices of individuals and communities. The deliverable result will be a concept of human dimension of ethnic migrations. The key task is to shift the research focus from country-level migration flows to regional and “human dimension” aspects of the problem, describe and analyze the evolving practices of mutual economic, social and cultural adaptation between migrants the receiving society. Project status: Current. Participating CASEs: Baltic, Voronezh, Far East, Irkutsk, Rostov, Saratov, Ural, Tomsk. Results: Interim completion report, request for funding for the next implementation phase. Higher Education Serving the School The research goal of this project is to study the ongoing changes in cooperation model between higher education institutions and secondary schools, and describe practical cases of this cooperation. Project status: Publication being prepared. Participating CASEs: Tomsk, Baltic, Irkutsk, Novgorod, Rostov, Saratov, Ural. Results: Collective monograph being prepared. Russian Cities: Power Strategies and Population Resources Project goals: analyze modern approaches to and interpretations of urban planning, as well as planning methods that benefit from international best practices; gather new data on the key strategic planning issues faced by the contemporary Russian society; identify the most effective ways to merge global and glocal trends that contribute to the integration of cities into Russia’s economic, social, political and cultural space. Project status: Current. Participating CASEs: Ural, Baltic, Voronezh, Irkutsk, Saratov, Novgorod, Far East. Results: Interim report and funding request for the next project implementation period. The Future of Russia and the 2007—2008 Elections: a View from Regions, Capital Cities, and from Across the Ocean The project was focused on the current situation in Russia as the country moved into a new election cycle. It aims to analyze the existing interpretations and evaluations of the four-year State Duma activities, as well as Vladimir Putin’s eight-year presidency. Project status: Completed. Participating CASEs: Voronezh, Far East, Rostov, Tomsk, Ural. Results: Collective monograph being prepared. |
