On 30 January — 1 February there was a conference BORDERS VERSUS MIGRATION: U.S.-MEXICO AND RUSSIA-ASIA organized on the basis of two universities in San-Diego, University of California and San-Diego State University. It was arranged with the assistance of ISE-Center

The conference dealt with migration processes in various regions of Russia and the United States. Russians reports concerned mostly the boundaries with China and Caucasus republics, American exposed the migration at the boarder with Mexico. It was not by chance that this conference took part in San-Diego, the frontier territory of the USA. Among the Russian participants of the conference there were representatives of the project Russian Centers for Advanced Studies and Education. The head of the migration network — Sergei Golunov (Center for Regional and Transborder Studies, Volgograd State University). The Russian participants are:
